Composer's Notes:
This setting of the popular Latin Christmas text was commissioned for the combined Choral Arts Ensemble (adults) and the Concert Choir (high school) of the Honors Choirs of Southeast Minnesota. Both groups are based in Rochester, Minnesota, and the dedication on the score reads, "To honor the memory of Mother Alfred Moes (1828 - 1899), foundress of the Rochester Franciscans." The performances were offered in the beautiful Lourdes Chapel at Assisi Heights, a space that enhanced the antiphonal treatment of the combined choirs. (The adult ensemble was divided to create the SSAA and TTBB choirs). The commission was funded with grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council.
