Composer's Notes:
I wrote Promenade and Galop on commission for the Hopkins (MN) High School Wind Ensemble. It received its premiere on April 30, 2009, under the baton of William Bell. The movements may be performed as a set or individually. Durations are 2'20" and 4"00" respectively.
The Promenade is an easy stroll on a spring morning, with the tempo marked "light and breezy." The Galop is an energetic romp and race in 2/4 time, in the rhythm of the fastest running gait of a horse.
Optional percussion parts for an expanded percussion section on the Galop are included.
