Composer's Notes:
I was commissioned to arrange this as the opening hymn for the Pax Christi Award Ceremony at St. John's University in May 1994. The original is a massive, full-blown setting, with two quartets of antiphonal herald trumpets, full orchestra, organ, SATB massed chorus, congregation, the whole kit and kaboodle (see All Hail the Power (w/ orchestra). I was asked in 2005 by Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church in Moraga, CA to reorchestrate the arrangement for a more standard orchestra, and no herald trumpets. It was also used at the opening worship of the National Convention of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Church in 2005. I have since rearranged the accompaniment twice for different occasions, so now I have this setting for SATB, optional congregation, brass septet and organ, and a setting for SATB, optional congregation, and wind ensemble (see All Hail the Power [w/ wind ensemble]).
